National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) Chairperson to host roundtable discussion with One Young World participants

National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) Executive Chairperson Yershen Pillay will tomorrow 22 October 2013 host a roundtable discussion with young South Africans who participated at the One Young World Summit from 2 - 5 October 2013. The discussion will look at practical ways to take forward the lessons learnt at the One Young World Summit hosted in South Africa for the first earlier this month.

About 115 young South Africans formed part of the over 1 000 global youth who took part at this year’s Summit. One Young World Summit is an annual global platform that brings together over 1 000 exceptional youth from around the world giving them an opportunity to become leaders of their communities, organisations and companies.

During the Summit, 1 500 exceptional young leaders came together to discuss solutions to the challenges of education, global business, health, human rights and sustainable development among others, placing great emphasis on action so as to actively work to set up initiatives that aim to improve their communities.

“This is an important platform as it promotes a culture of critical thinking and action orientated youth who are also change agents. As a youth development institution dedicated to change and improving the lives of our young people and their communities we are proud to have been be part of this year’s summit,” says NYDA Chairperson Yershen Pillay.

“We have now called this roundtable to look at ways to take forward the lessons learnt, we want to go beyond the Summit discussions and say what is it we can do practically to advance the development of young people,” he adds.

The NYDA is aimed at facilitating the development of young people within various sectors of society.
