Minister Lindiwe Sisulu addresses planning practitioners at 6th Planning Africa Conference, 21 Oct

The Minister of Human Settlements, Lindiwe Sisulu, will today, 21 October 2014, deliver a keynote address at the South African Planning Institute’s (SAPI) 6th Planning Africa Conference.

The conference is held under the theme “Making Great Places”.  Minister Sisulu is expected to address international and local planning practitioners on how to make cities, towns, and villages better places to live in whilst focussing on Master Spatial Plan aimed at addressing inequalities and apartheid designed residential areas.

Last week Friday, Minister Sisulu and human settlements stakeholders signed a Social Contract for the Development of Sustainable Human Settlements at the National Human Settlements Indaba and Exhibition. The convener of the 6th Planning African Conference, SAPI, is one of the signatories to the Social Contract which seeks to mobilize different human settlements stakeholders to partner with government in its quest to deliver 1.5 million housing opportunities in the next five years.
