Electricity Minister Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa and Public Works and Infrastructure Deputy Minister Bernice Swarts to address the 2nd day of the Africa Engineering Week

Electricity Minister Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa and Public Works and Infrastructure Deputy Minister Bernince Swarts will on the 26 September, address the 09th Africa Engineering Week and the 7th Africa Engineering Conference currently taking place at the CSIR in Pretoria.

The week-long conference was opened and addressed by Deputy President Paul Mashatile and Public Works and Infrastructure Minister Sihle Zikalala yesterday. 

Minister Ramokgopa’s address will focus on energy and electricity issues in the African context while Deputy Minister Swarts will talk on support programmes to develop Women Engineers in different sectors. 

The conference which will continue from the 25th to the 28th September brings together over 1000 delegates, which include engineers, researchers, consultants, industrialists, economists, development partners, government, academia, product manufacturers, development funding institutions, NGOs, and other experts from all the continent. 

The conference aims to shine the spotlight on the excellence of African Engineers and will focus on the role of engineering for sustainable development in Africa. It will explore how engineering solutions can be home-grown and customized to solve the continent's most pressing challenges, such as climate change, poverty and inequality.
