Minister Gugile Nkwinti holds dialogue on Exceptions Policy Framework, 20 to 21 Nov

Minister Gugile Nkwinti to hold dialogue on the exceptions to the 1913 Natives Land Act cut-off date

The Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform Gugile Nkwinti is convening a national dialogue to finalise consultations on the Exceptions Policy Framework on 20 - 21 November 2015, at Birchwood Hotel, in Boksburg, Gauteng.

The consultative conference will discuss how the country will address land dispossessions prior to 1913, a policy proposal aiming to provide The Exceptions to the 1913 Natives Land Act.

In terms of the current restitution laws, it only allows victims of land dispossession after the 1913 to apply for redress.

The dialogue Minister Nkwinti is spearheading will deal with how the Exceptions to the 1913 cut-off date should accommodate:

  • the descendants of the Khoi and San
  • heritage stes
  • historical landmarks.
