The honourable Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform, Mr Gugile Nkwinti cordially invites you to the Transformation of Certain Rural Areas Act and the Rural Areas Act (TRANCAA) consultative workshop.
The workshop will take place on the 7-8 December 2012, at Southern Sun Cape Sun hotel, Cape Town in the Western Cape Province. Journalists are welcomed to attend the plenary session but the commissions will be closed to the media.
The purpose of the workshop is to discuss five thematic areas which are: Statutory and procedural compliance, Institutional arrangements, Development support, Relationship with Municipalities and Experience and Role of Women.
The workshop will serve as a platform between the department and TRANCRAA project representatives and other stakeholders to consult and engage on issues affecting TRANCRAA projects which include among others:
- Lack of transfer of land to the beneficiaries as envisaged in the Act
- Departmental failure to give proper guidance on which legal entity TRANCRAA projects should form
- Inadequate Departmental support to TRANCRAA projects
A total of 400 delegates representing Free State, Northern Cape, Western Cape and Eastern Cape will be attending the workshop.
