Minister Dlamini to meet with African Union (AU) team of experts on children and social protection systems in Africa

The Minister of Social Development, Ms Bathabile Dlamini, will meet with the African team of experts to discuss matters pertaining to children and social protection systems in Africa during a three days conference. During the meeting, Minister Dlamini together with the African team of experts will reflect on the progress made by countries of the continent since the launch of the African Union Social Policy Framework (SPF).

The three days conference which will be held under the theme, “Children and Social Protection Systems: Building the African Agenda”, is a precursor to the upcoming Fourth African Union Conference of Ministers of Social Development (CAMSD4), which will be during the month of May 2014, in Ethiopia.

The conference will amongst other topics discuss key achievements on social protection in Africa and seek political commitment on the expansion of social protection programmes aimed at improving development and child outcomes in the African continent.
