In its endeavor to shape up and fast track service delivery to communities, North West Department of Local Government and Traditional Affairs will on the 4th and 5th of July 2013, be engaged in a Basic Services Summit to be held at Orion Safari Lodge in Rustenburg.
In the summit the department together with relevant stakeholders will relook into the current service delivery status quo, the challenges in providing needed services and come up with strategies to declare interventions on certain areas with the intention of realizing speedy service delivery to communities. Amongst much needed basic services, the department will give specific focus to provision of water, electricity, sanitation as well as housing.
The expected government political heads to attend includes amongst others the Premier of the North West Province Mme Thandi Modise, Minister of Water Affairs Ednah Molewa, MEC for Local Government and Traditional Affairs Manketse Tlhape, MEC for Department of Finance Paul Sebegoe, MEC for Department of Public Works, Roads and Transport Raymond Elisha, MEC for Department of Sports, Arts and Culture Tebogo Modise, MEC for Department of Economic Development Motlalepule Rosho, as well as officials from Department of Human Settlements, Agriculture, Social Development and Health.
Executive members of the House of Traditional Leaders, Executive Mayors, Mayors, Municipal Managers, Infrastructure Managers, Eskom, Water Boards, South African Local Government Association (SALGA), Mining Houses in the province and Development Bank of South Africa (DBSA) will also be part for this important event.
