Gauteng Provincial Legislature hosts Thought Leadership Seminar, 16 Nov

Celebrating 20 Years of the Constitution and the NCOP

Speaker of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature, Ntombi Mekgwe will on the 16th November 2017 host the Thought Leadership Seminar to commemorate the signing into law of the Constitution and the establishment of the National Council of Province (NCOP).

This august occasion in the rich history of South Africa signifies a great milestone of our striving democracy. The Thought Leadership Seminar will therefore seek to encourage debate and the sharing of experience among the people of Gauteng on what the NCOP and the existence of the Constitutions signifies in their lives.

The Seminar aims to attract and host diverse ideas from different backgrounds inter alia politicians from different parties, political analysts, academics, civil society groups; and experts from academia and research institutions, the legal and political fraternity.  The Seminar will capture the rich history and the path travelled towards a free and democratic South Africa as well as contribute to the current state of discourse in an attempt to shape the role of legislatures in a constitutional democracy.
