Western Cape Public Employment Services to embark on a three-day information session targeting youth and work-seekers

The Department of Employment and Labour’s Public Employment Services (PES) unit, in the Western Cape province, is inviting youth and work seekers to an information session aimed to educate and provide insight into the available services offered by the unit.

The information session is one of the efforts by the Department to bring services closer to the people.

During the three days, PES officials will be registering unemployed work seekers on the Department’s employment database known as Employment Services of South Africa (ESSA), and liaising with stakeholders for potential employment opportunities.

The Department has a responsibility to contribute to employment creation by ensuring that, people who register as work-seekers are best matched with opportunities available in the labour market.

The services of PES include among others, work seeker registration, employer registration for available opportunities, and work seeker matching and placement through the recruitment, selection and placement services.

Additionally, work seekers also benefit from career counselling services that include psychometric testing and job preparation.

Employment Services of South Africa (ESSA) is a free service offered by the Department of Employment and Labour to all South African citizens. It assists both employers and job seekers.
