The North West MEC for Local Government and Traditional Affairs China Dodovu will during a two – day workshop with Municipalities envisaged to be held on the 29 - 30th November 2012 at the Carousel Hotel in Hammanskraal award performance recognition certificates on Municipal Infrastructure Grant (MIG) expenditure for 2011/12 to deserving Municipalities:
Award categories include amongst others the best performing, reporting, and responsive Performance management unit and District, Well Constructed/Impressive/Managed MIG Project in Municipality per District as well as special Awards.
Meanwhile, the two day workshop to be conducted by the department on the same day will seek to strengthen intergovernmental relations between sector departments and municipalities, measure the current performance against national infrastructure service delivery targets and also provide methods for a co-ordinated pursuit of national policy priorities with regard to basic municipal infrastructure programmes to curb the duplication and inefficiencies associated with fragmented grants.
