The MEC for Community Safety, Faith Mazibuko together with the MEC for Health and Social Development Ntombi Mekgwe will tomorrow host a dialogue on sexual offence and domestic violence as part of the International Women’s Day. It is expected that over 300 guests participate being MMC’s, speakers, councillors, community policing forum (CPF), Women’s League, Young Women’s League, women’s organisations, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), South African Police Services (SAPS) and Progressive Women’s Movement South Africa.
The dialogue will focus on the following:
- National register for sex offenders and provincial mobilisation plan
- Strengthening of the Family Violence, Child protection and Sexual Offences unit (FCS): Major General Taioe
- The management of sexual assault in the province
- Gender Based Violence (GBV) indicators research project in Gauteng Province:
- Gender Links
- Overview of the provincial Violence Against Women and Children (VAWAC)
- Strategy: Tshwaraganang Legal Advocacy Centre – Lisa Vetten
