Community mobilisation strategies implemented by Community Policing Forums (CPFs) are to be assessed with a view to set a new tone for the crime prevention structures in the war against crime. The assessment, capacity building, funding of crime prevention projects and functionality of CPFs will be the focus of the consultative workshop of Community Policing Forums that is to be hosted by MEC for Public Safety, Howard Yawa tomorrow, Wednesday, 30 September 2009 in Mafikeng.
The objective of the one day workshop is to improve and enhance the relationship between the police and communities and to pave a way forward in terms of the policy framework regarding relocation of CPFs and their conversion to Community Safety Forums (CSF).The workshop will also determine the role of the crime prevention structures in mobilising communities against crime towards and beyond 2010 FIFA World Cup.
The workshop to commence at 10h00 at Former Molopo South African Police Service (SAPS) Area Offices Hall commonly known as TTA near Montshioa Stad village is targeted at CPF Cluster Boards, Executive Committee Members from all Police Stations, all Station Commissioners, Senior Police Management from the Office of the Provincial Commissioner.
