The Minister of Communications, General (Ret) Siphiwe Nyanda will officially switch on the television base station at the Agter Witzenberg community hall in the Cape Winelands district municipality, Western Cape tomorrow.
The switch-on will ensure that the communities in and around the Cape Winelands district municipality have access to television signal transmission and will receive an additional TV channels (1, 3 and E-TV). The community previously had access to only SABC 2 channel.
The television base station is a partnership between different spheres of government and state owned enterprises (SOE), Department of Communications, Cape Winelands district municipality and Sentech and the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) to educate, entertain and inform the community.
