The Department of Communications (DoC), in conjunction with the Department of Correctional Services (DCS), will be hosting a Certificate Award Ceremony on 11 March 2011, at Leeuwkop Correctional Centre. The Minister of Correctional Services, Ms Nosiviwe Mapisa Nqakula, will deliver a keynote address at the award ceremony in commemoration of the success of the programme.
The Department of Communications and Department of Correctional Services have successfully implemented an initiative referred to as the eLiteracy Programme for Youth Offenders.
The programme provided youth offenders with Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills as part of their rehabilitation process, particularly those close to being integrated back into society.
