The portfolio committee on correctional services will tomorrow Tuesday, 9 February get a briefing from the Departments of Correctional Services and Public Works about maintenance of correctional centres around the country.
The Department of Correctional Services was heavily criticised by the Committee last year for the high cost of its maintenance on things like television sets. After the briefing, the Committee will also, jointly with the Select Committee on Security and Constitutional Development, select people who will serve on the National Council for Correctional Services.

Meanwhile, the standing committee on public accounts and the Portfolio Committee on Sports and Recreation will jointly hold hearings on the annual report and financial statement of the Department of Sport and Recreation and Boxing SA. The hearings will be held in Committee Room V454, on the fourth floor of the Old Assembly at 09h00.
Also, the Portfolio Committee on Defence and Military Veterans will hold hearings on the 2008/09 Annual Report of the Department of Defence and Military Veterans. The hearings will be held in Committee Room V475, on the fourth floor of the Old Assembly Wing at 09h00.
