The Portfolio Committee on Energy will have public hearings on the Independent System and Market Operator Bill (ISMO) [B9 – 2012].
The hearings will be conducted over two days. The first public engagement process will start tomorrow with oral submissions by the Energy Intensive User Group, Meridian Economics, Earthlife Africa Johannesburg and the Chamber of Mines.
The Bill will provide for the establishment of an Independent System and Market Operator as a state-owned entity which will provide an independent system operation to ensure safe, secure and efficient operation of the integrated power system, trading of electricity at wholesale level.
