The Commission for Gender Equality (CGE) will host a Policy Dialogue tomorrow (4 October 2012), with high-level decision makers from selected organs of state, government departments and other key stakeholders in the private and civil society sectors in Mpumalanga Province. The Policy Dialogue is scheduled to take place between 9h00 - 12h00 at the Nelspruit Library.
These Policy Dialogues are to relay findings and recommendations of the work conducted by the Commission on various areas such as gender equality in the water sector, employment equity, widowhood, education and land reform. These Policy Dialogues will be convened with relevant senior-level stakeholders and policy makers from each of these sectors across all the nine provinces as well as at national level.
The purpose of these Policy Dialogues is to create awareness among, and secure concrete commitments from, senior-level policy makers and other stakeholders on how the Commission’s findings and recommendations on gender mainstreaming and the promotion of gender equality will be adopted and implemented, and to ensure that effective mechanisms are put in place to enable the Commission to monitor progress towards the achievement of gender equality in South Africa.
The Commission saw it fit to share with you this information and we will gladly, if given an opportunity, broaden the scope and unfold issues thereof. This can only take place before and after the event.
