The Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Mr Senzeni Zokwana cordially invites members of the media to the commemoration of Nelson Mandela Day at Carl Schreve Primary School in Piketberg, Western Cape Province.
This year, the department’s Mandela Day message will focus on the key themes of Food Security, Education and Literacy, Shelter and Infrastructure, Service and Volunteerism. On the day, the Minister will plant food gardens and trees to encourage the learners and the community to consider studying agriculture. The day will also feature live performances, sports and inspirational cultural events.
Minister Zokwana will then later distribute 67 food parcels and blankets to identified families which have also been profiled to add the department’s Household Livelihood Food and Nutrition Security Baseline Assessment.
Santos Football Club (The People’s Team), as one of Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF’s) partners will be at the event to conduct a sports clinic with the school team.
