The Minister of Higher Education and Training, Dr. Blade Nzimande, MP will be hosting the 6th Annual Nelson Mandela Career Development Festival at uMfolozi Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) College, Esikhawini Campus and the University of Zululand in Mpangeni, KwaZulu Natal. The festival will be hosted over four days, from Wednesday 15 July to Saturday 18 July 2015.
The festival will be opened officially on Wednesday, 15 July 2015 by the Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training, Mr Mduduzi Manana. A total of 10 000 learners are expected to attend the Festival.
The Festival is a flagship annual career development festival of the Higher Education and Training Department. The department will bring its entities like the universities, TVET colleges, sector education and training authorities (SETAs), other government organs and industry representatives to exhibit and impart information to youth. The focus is on career advice and post-school education and training (PSET) opportunities.
The Festival is targeting high school learners, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds as well as youth that are not in employment, education nor training (NEET).
The last day of the Festival coincides with the 18th of July 2015 (international Mandela Day, 67 minutes campaign).The Minister and the Deputy Minister will observe the 67 minutes engaging learners on career guidance.
