The Department of Arts and Culture invites the media to the launch of Women’s Month on Thursday, 30 July 2015 at the Union Buildings under the theme, “Women United in Moving South Africa Forward”.
The month of August carries great significance in the emancipation and liberation of women of South Africa. This year marks 59 years since the 1956 Women’s march where women asserted themselves by refusing to carry passes that will among other things restrict their freedom of movement. This year, Women’s month will celebrate women achievers and their participation in the economy. Women’s day (9, August) will be hosted in Sasolburg, Free State.
Activities for the whole month of August will be outlined at the launch.
