Members of the media are invited to attend the Clean Tech Competition Award Ceremony which will be hosted by the Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Energy, Global Environmental Fund, National Cleaner Production Centre and United Nations Industrial Development Organisation in Durban as part of the United Nations Convention for Climate Change in Durban side events:

The South African Clean Tech competition is part of the greening activities implemented by the Department of Environmental Affairs of the Republic of South Africa. The competition aims to encourage technological potentials and strives to change mind-sets on innovative clean technology in South Africa.
At the same time the competition enhances opportunities for entrepreneurs and small businesses which are enabled to receive support and training to improve their business plans in creating innovative clean technology.
This year competition has offered green entrepreneurs and Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) the opportunity to market innovative ideas and concepts in energy efficiency, renewable energy and green buildings as either breakthrough green innovations or as innovative adaptations of existing green ideas.
