The Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature is hosting a Children’s Parliament on 8 June 2012. The event is hosted in partnership with the Provincial Department of Social Development and Special Programmes under the theme ‘Building a caring society, together’.
Children from various District Municipalities within the Province shall table reports on selected topics as listed below:
- Nelson Mandela Metro- Child abuse
- Cacadu District Municipality- Access to Basic Quality Education
- Joe Gqabi District-Substance Abuse
- Chris Hani District-Orphans
- OR Tambo District- Child Headed Households
- Alfred Nzo District-Child Abduction and Child Trafficking
- Amathole District-Child Prostitution
The Honorable Minister for Social Development, Bathabile Dlamini shall deliver a key note address.
