Chief of the South African Navy state of the Navy media luncheon

Chief of the South African Navy, Vice Admiral Refiloe J Mudimu will address the media with regard to state of the South African Navy at Admiralty House in Simon’s Town on 15 March 2012. The event will commence at approximately 11h00 and all members of the Navy Command Council will be present to engage the media on the day.

The purpose of the media luncheon is to update the media and the public about developments pertaining to maritime security challenges facing the South African Navy, Republic of South Africa and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region.

The media briefing will focus on the following issues:

  • 2012 - Naval Exercises (local and international).
  • Maritime Security Challenges and Strategy.
  • Operational Readiness of the Frigates and Submarines.
  • Feedback on Indian Ocean Naval Symposium and SADC Standing Maritime Committee.
  • Navy Future Plans.

Media organisations and journalists interested in attending the event are kindly requested to forward their names to Commander Prince Tshabalala and Lieutenant “Bob” Mabina to confirm attendance.

Strict accreditation process will be followed and late responses will not be entertained due limited space at the venue.

The deadline for submission of names is Wednesday, 14 March 2012 approximately 18h00.
