Chief of the South African Air Force media breakfast and wings parade

The Chief of the South African Air Force, Lieutenant General Carlo Gagiano will host a media breakfast at the Air Force Gymnasium on 11 September 2009 and will thereafter officiate at the wings parade at Swartkop Airfield. Lieutenant General Gagiano will use this opportunity to address the media on various issues affecting the South African Air Force, after which a question and answer session will be opened.

All guests are then invited to proceed to the Swartkop Air Field for the wings parade whereby, pilots, navigators and flight engineers, amongst others, will be presented with wings. Lieutenant General Gagiano is the review officer on the parade.

The South African Air Force’s Silver Falcon Aerobatic Display Team will perform a flypast during the wings parade. There will also be an opportunity for the media to interact with the Chief of the South African Air Force and members on parade.

You are hereby cordially invited to send a journalist and/or a photographer/cameraperson to attend the Chief of the South African Air Force media breakfast on 11 September 2009 at the Air Force Gymnasium at 07h40 for 08h00 and the wings parade at Swartkop Airfield at 11h00 on the same day.

Members of the media are kindly requested to confirm attendance by Thursday 10 September 2009 at 13h00.

Directions from Johannesburg to SAAF gym are as follows:

* Take the N1 North (Polokwane)
* Follow the N14 to Pretoria
* Turn left at the M24 Valhalla offramp, road bends to the left
* Turn right at the stop sign at the end of the bend
* Proceed straight on the M24 towards Valhalla
* Turn left at the robots into Old Johannesburg Road
* The main gate for the South African Air Force gymnasium is about 500m further on the right.

Directions from Fountains Circle to SAAF gym are as follows:

* From the robots at the Fountains Circle to main gate
* Turn right at the robots and continue straight on with the road towards Thaba Tshwane
* Proceed straight, at the robots in front of the gate of the Voortrekker Monument turn left
* This road becomes Old Johannesburg Road
* Pass a set of robots continue straight ahead
* The main gate for the air force gymnasium is about 500 m further on the right.
