The Minister of Communications, Mr Radhakrishna Padayachie will be addressing a breakfast hosted by the Durban University of Technology on 17 May in celebration of World Telecommunications and Information Society Day.
This year's celebration takes place under the theme "Better life for rural communities with ICTs".

This event follows a week long programme undertaken by Minister Padayachie and the Department of Communications in bringing Information and Communications Technology to the rural communities in KZN.

Date: 10 May - launch of cyberlab and handover of computers at Mezwigizwe Secondary School, Ndwedwe
Date: 12 May - launch of Community Communications Centre at Impendle
Date: 13 May - switch-on of low power transmitters bring television and radio signal to the people of Msinga, Keats Drift and Tugela Ferry. The Minister also launched a cyberlab at Msinga High School.
