Members of the media are invited to attend and cover the participation of the Minister of Energy at a Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) fundraising initiative.
On Wednesday, 12 September 2012 the Minister of Energy Ms Dipuo Peters will participate in a fundraising initiative on behalf of CANSA. The (“Jail N Bail”) initiative will take place tomorrow and staff members from the Department of Energy will also participate and contribute towards this worthy cause. The department and its associates are expected to raise funds and bail her out. The proceeds will go to CANSA to support their work in educating, research and support for cancer patients.
The details are as follows:
- 11:00 Minister will be detained at her house
- 11:30 Minister will be ‘imprisoned’ in a makeshift cell which will be erected on the rooftop of our offices
- 12:00-12:30 the Minister will be inside the ‘makeshift prison’ while staff members donate anything from R5 to any amount towards “Caring for the Cancer.”
The theme for the event is “Caring for the Cancer”, as such the focus will be on raising funds for CANSA an NGO that does research, education and support for people living with cancer.
The department will sell ribbons of which the proceeds will go to the CANSA as part of the fundraising initiative. CANSA will also exhibit and sell items i.e. books, ribbons, arm bends, etc. with the aim of fundraising.
