Blanket donation to youth empowerment project in Franschhoek

Western Cape MEC of Social Development, Albert Fritz will today, 12 June handover a donation of knitted blankets and other bedding to the Youth Empowerment Project in Franschhoek.

The blankets are donated by the residents at Lindelani, one of 7 facilities in the province that provides secure care for youth at risk or vulnerable youth. One of their programmes focuses on community outreach, allowing the boys through community work, to give back to society in one way or another. Through this process they are taught to become responsible and caring citizens.

Lindelani partnered with the Knit-a-Square Foundation in this project. The foundation donates squares which are knitted by individuals all over the world and the boys at Lindelani sewed the squares together into blankets.

There will be photograph and interview opportunities.
