In October every year the department and the country at large celebrate National Nutrition Week (#NNW2014). This year, the Department of Basic Education will in partnership with Nestle Healthy Kids, share the joy and importance of nutrition with the learners of Pisgah Primary School and Sentebale Primary School on Monday 13 and Wednesday 15 October 2014 respectively.
National Nutrition Week (#NNW2014) presents an apt opportunity to celebrate the great advances made in providing healthy, nutritious meals to learners who benefit as a result of the National School Nutrition Program (NSNP), which feeds over 8, 8 million learners.
It is equally important to utilise this time to educate leaners on the importance of a balanced diet, hence the theme "Choose your portion with caution"
