Armenian visit to Northern Cape

Following two visits by the Premier and Members of the Executive Council to Armenia last year to strengthen economic cooperation between the province and Armenia, a delegation led by Mr G Abrahamyan (an MP in the Armenian Parliament) will be visiting the Northern Cape from 11 to 14 April 2011.

An agreement was signed between our government and the government of Armenia to cooperate on issues of diamond and jewellery manufacturing, cutting and polishing etc.

The visit aims at fast-tracking the provisions of the agreement, as well as meeting with diamond mining houses. The agreement further sought to exchange technical, scientific, administrative and legislative information and experience on economic matters in the industrial field particularly with regard to industrial modernisation programmes as well as cooperation in industrial zones; jewellery manufacturing; diamond cutting and polishing;

a) Armenia to provide specialised training in the diamond industry
b) encourage the private sector to establish joint industrial projects  
c) exchange technical experience in the field of implementing and creating industrial zones

Promoting cooperation between Small medium and micro enterprise's and the institutions that offer support to such enterprises.
