The Africana, one of Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries’ two research vessels, will tomorrow, Tuesday, 23 October 2011, depart for the annual six-week pelagic adult biomass survey for sardine and anchovy.
This crucial survey, done in October and November each year since 1984, is currently one of the longest such uninterrupted time-series in the world and feeds directly into the calculation of the anchovy and sardine total allowable catch for 2013.
The media is invited to attend the farewell ceremony that will take place as follow:
Date: Tuesday, 23 October 2012
Time: 12h00
Venue: Oscar Outer (on northeastern birth of Simon’s Town naval harbor)
