Africa Day Special Sitting

The Hon. Speaker of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature, Honourable Lindiwe Maseko invites you to the Africa Day Special Sitting and celebration detailed as follows:

The Special Sitting aims at addressing the case for “Africa’s renewal and the role of parliaments in the continent: Challenges and Opportunities” which will be addressed by the Special Guest Professor Piti ka Ntuli. Professor Piti KaNtuli is a South African Sculptor, Poet, Writer and an Academic who spent 32 years of his life in exile in Swaziland and in the United Kingdom. He is an expert in African indigenous knowledge systems and a regular Political and Cultural Commentator on SABC 2 every Saturday morning.

Given his strong background on African Renaissance and Integrated Knowledge Systems, he will share these ideologies with the Members of the GPL, Stakeholders (to name a few; Thabo Mbeki foundation, Institutes of Higher Learning, HRSC, Pan African Parliament) and Consul-Generals from African Countries (to name a few: Zimbabwe, Botswana, Kenya, Nigeria) who have been invited to be part of this Africa Day Celebration.

Immediately thereafter the guests will proceed to the City Hall, where there will be a Questions and Answers session (sharing of views on the topic) which will be alternated with different activities such as, art exhibitions and performances by cultural groups in saluting and celebrating AU efforts in uniting Africa as one.
