Advocate Madonsela on official trip to Vienna, Austria

Advocate Thulisile Madonsela is in Vienna, Austria this week attending the World Justice Forum II conference, which takes place from today, Wednesday until Saturday, 14 November 2009.

She kicked-off her visit to that country with a meeting with her counterpart at the Austrian Ombudsman Board, Terezija Stoisits, shortly after arriving in Vienna yesterday. They were expected to discuss among others the mandate, power and functions of the Austrian Ombudsman Board, the handling of investigations and best practices.

Advocate Madonsela is also scheduled to hold meetings with the Austrian Judiciary, Special Rapporteur on Trafficking and the Deputy Director General for European and Economic Affairs at the Austrian Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Elisabeth Tichy-Fisslberger.

The World Justice Forum is hosted by the World Justice Project. It is a global gathering at which prominent leaders from all parts of the world and a variety of disciplines come together to articulate how the rule of law affects their disciplines and regions and to develop collaborative actions to strengthen the rule of law.

Advocate Madonsela is expected back in the country on 16 November 2009.
