The Heads of Courts under the leadership of the Chief Justice will host a national conference on Access to Justice. The conference, which will be attended by National Judges, Chief Justices and Judges from various countries, Magistrates, Traditional leaders, non governmental organisations and other stakeholders dealing with justice issues, will deliberate on issues that are pertinent to the effective and efficient functioning of the justice system.
The ultimate objective of the conference is to set out a new vision for a justice system that is accessible and responsive to the needs of the people.
During the opening session, His Excellency President Jacob Zuma will deliver a keynote address. Also in attendance will be the Speaker of Parliament Honourable Max Sisulu, the Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) Honourable Mninwa Mahlangu and the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development Mr Jeff Radebe.

Media is invited to the opening and closing sessions of the conference. Media accreditation will take place on Thursday, 7 July 2011 from 14h00-17h00 at the Hilton Hotel, Sandton. ID’s and press cards will be required for this process.
Guidelines for the media
Arrival and access:
- Media is required to arrive 30 minutes before the starting time for purposes of setting up and seating
- Access cards should be carried at all times to allow for access to the open sessions of the programme
Programme:
- Only the opening session and the closing session will open to the media
- Opening session – Friday, 8 July 2011 at 09h00-11h00
- Closing session – Sunday, 10 July 2011 at 11h00-12h00
A media briefing will also take place at the end of the conference.
Photographers and taking of pictures inside the plenary:
- Photographers will be allowed to take pictures of the delegates and the panel on the stage
- No photographer will be allowed on the stage.
Interview requests:
- Interviews may be requested through the Media Liaison Personnel only (Malentswe Tsheole – 079 493 3508)
- Media interviews will facilitated for the duration of the conference.
Allocation of seats for the media:
- Media will be allocated seats in the plenary hall
- No journalist or photographer will be allowed to sit among the delegates.
Live feeds and recording:
- Media will be allowed to utilise the distribution box for the purpose of recording and live feeds
- No microphones or recording devises will be allowed on the podium.
