8 500 educators to receive CAPS training. Minister Grant to attend one of the training sessions

Tomorrow, Minister Donald Grant will be visiting Gardens Commercial High school where educators from approximately 30 schools are receiving Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS) training.

Around 8 500 teachers are currently attending training sessions this week to prepare for CAPS implementation next year.

The training of so many educators across the province is a massive logistical exercise but we are determined to ensure that as many of our educators receive the relevant support and training in terms of the CAPS which will be implemented in Grades 4, 5, 6 and 11 in 2013.

Tomorrow Minister Grant will be visiting Gardens Commercial High School where he will be sitting in on a training session. He will then address some of the educators. Media will then be given an opportunity to interview the educators and convenors during their tea break.

Tomorrow’s schedule includes educator training in Social Sciences, Mathematics and Life Skills.
