About 30 families in Mdantsane will receive their homes tomorrow from MEC Mrs Nombulelo Mabandla. The families will now occupy newly government built houses at Z Soga Housing project in Mdantsane, NU 12 as from 1 October 2009.
She will also visit the family in unit nine whose house burnt down last week and left an elderly couple homeless.
The family has been given a temporary structure to occupy while waiting for the building of their home. A contractor is already on standby to build the house once a site has been identified by the municipality.
She will also open the customer care hotline to handle housing issues including reporting fraud and corruption on housing projects, emergency housing, supply chain management and tracing approved beneficiaries who have not occupied houses allocated to them and general information about the department.
The first week of October is dedicated as a housing week nationally, but the activities of the provincial department will run until the month end of October. The events will be held on Thursday, 1 October 2009 starting at 10h00 in Mdantsane.
