Finance Minister, Pravin Gordhan will present the 2010 budget to Parliament on 17 February 2010. National Treasury will host a workshop for journalists the day before the budget is presented. This is intended especially for those who will be covering the budget for the first time. The workshop assists journalists in understanding, analysing and using the information contained in the different documents.
The workshop will include presentations by senior National Treasury and South African Revenue Service (SARS) officials. Presentations will primarily focus on the budget process, 2010 World Cup expenditure, division of revenue, tax proposals and tax bills. Journalists should bring along copies of the 2009 budget documents, as these will be used throughout the workshop. Copies are available on our website, http://www.treasury.gov.za.
