The Department of Communications through The Meraka e-Skills Institute and Telkom is hosting the 2010 Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Career Expo in Johannesburg.
The expo will be held under the theme: "The e-Generation, Building capacity for an e-Society".
The aim of the expo is to provide young people with information on career opportunities and options available in the information and communications technology industry.
The expo will give students a chance to experience and interact with ICT professionals, and share their knowledge and experiences of working in different ICT companies.
In addition, the department will sign memoranda of understanding with Further Education and Training (FET) colleges, Department of Higher Education and Training, CISCO, ICDL foundation on positioning FET colleges as centres of excellence in delivering ICT skills in the country.
Young people will have an opportunity to see exhibitions from the Department of Communications and different ICT companies such as Torque IT, Trade and Industry and Education, Telkom SA, Microsoft SA, Cisco SA, Neotel, Nemisa, Meraka Institute, Motorola, Naledi 3D and Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).
