16 finest djs for the Carnival Dj competition finals

Born and bred in Isithama section, Tembisa, in 1991 Sifiso “Dj Kingsfiso” Leshaba started his deejaying career about three years ago and has already made a mark in his community. He has played in popular local clubs like Caprivi, Peter’s Cabin and Front Page to name a few alongside some of Mzansi’s finest Djs. His dream is to play alongside his role model Black Coffee.

Kingsifiso who got the highest number of points, is among the 16 djs selected during the Pale Ya Rona Carnival Dj auditions that took place at Ko’spotong, Ghandi Square, over the weekend.

“This is one exciting programme which is part of the build up towards the main Carnival from the 2nd to the 4th of September. The response we received for the audition was amazing and we wish all selected Djs who are going to the finals all the best,” said Bushy Rakale, the project manager. 

The number-1 Dj will be voted by the public attending the Carnival and will take home sound equipment valued at R 50 000. The two runners-up will get Apple-Mac laptops valued at R10 000.  The DJs will also get an opportunity to play alongside top SA DJs at the Carnival. The finals are on the 03 September at Mofolo Park, Soweto from 18:00.

Other selected Djs include Mokowe (Jo’burg), DopeDeep (Jo’burg), Stanito (Jo’burg), Kat-La-Kat (Tshwane), Divalash (Female from Tshwane), Deckstar (Jo’burg), Linda (Ekurhuleni), Emkay (Female from Jo’burg), Vinno (Sedibeng), Jopa (Ekurhuleni) and NTK (Joburg).

The Pale Ya Rona Carnival is organised by the Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation and is on from 2 to 4 September. The first day on Friday, is the unveiling of the costumes, then on Saturday is the 3,5 km children’s Carnival and the last day is Sunday the 4th which is the main parade featuring 17 000 participants.
