Today, 27 July 2021, Western Cape Education MEC, Debbie Schäfer, visited three Cape Town schools to assess readiness for the third term.
The schools visited were:
- Injongo Primary School (C Section, Khayelitsha)
- Joe Slovo High School (Khaya, Khayelitsha)
- Intshayelelo Primary School (Ilitha Park, Khayelitsha)
MEC Schäfer said: “There are some schools that have been affected by the taxi disruptions, which is highly regrettable given the amount of time that has been lost by schools. But I am really impressed with the work that is being done here by our principals – they are creative, they are committed, and they really are doing their very best to try and ensure that the learners have the best opportunity for a quality education.
"They often are dealing with difficult circumstances, but they are working on relationships with communities to protect their schools. The SGBs are really getting involved. I look forward to seeing how their learners progress in their futures because they are getting an excellent start.”
