Greater St Lucia Wetland Park
8 August 2006
The Minister of Environmental Affairs and Tourism, Marthinus van Schalkwyk,
will officially open the new R9 million Ophansi entrance bridge in the Greater
St Lucia Wetland Park and release cheetah into the Park on Friday, 11 August
2006.
This event will mark a milestone in the development of the Lubombo
Scientific Development and Integration (SDI) tourism route and the Greater St
Lucia Wetland Park.
The new entrance bridge makes it possible to enjoy a unique beach and bush
tourism experience, as only one hour's drive separates uMkhuze's unique
wildlife experience with Sodwana Bay's world-class beaches and diving. The road
link provides for the first time an all weather access road for communities and
increases the economic opportunities via tourism.
