Gauteng Premier Mbhazima Shilowa will present the Gauteng Premier's Women
Achievers' Awards at a breakfast ceremony to be held at Turffontein Racecourse
on Thursday, 23 February 2006, at 09h00.

The Gauteng Premier's Women Achievers' Awards programme was initiated by the
Premier of Gauteng in 2000. The programme aims to honour, acknowledge and
recognise the achievements of the unsung heroines of the past and present of
the Gauteng Province.

The women will be awarded in categories in line with government
priorities.

Category A: Women building safe and sustainable communities

The nominee must have contributed to the improvement of the lives of her
community in an innovative and creative way. She must have made an impact in
any of the following sectors: Health, Sports, Arts, Culture, Heritage,
Agriculture, Social Services, Safety, Transport, Media, Communications and
Tourism. Projects must be current, viable and sustainable.

Category B: Women in job creation and poverty alleviation

The nominee must have set an enabling environment for other members of the
community to establish viable, sustainable businesses and entrepreneurial
projects. Job creation, economic growth and infrastructure development are key
factors in this category.

Category C: Women promoting transformation and Nation Building

democratisation of South Africa towards a non-racial and non-sexist
