Gauteng Premier Mbhazima Shilowa will officially open the greatest visual
art exhibition in Africa called the "Africa Remix" at the Johannesburg Art
Gallery. The opening of the exhibition is brought to Africa for the first time
by the Johannesburg Art Gallery in partnership with the Gauteng Department of
Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, the City of Johannesburg and the French
Embassy.
Africa Remix features the work of more than 85 artists from 25 countries on
the African continent and the Diaspora. It is considered to be the largest
exhibition of contemporary African art ever seen in Africa, it includes
painting, sculptures, installation, video, drawing photography and design.
The exhibition has been curated by Cameroon born, Paris based curator and
critic Simon Njami. More than 20 artists will attend the opening.
