Relations between organised labour, business and Government will be further
strengthened when the three role players sign a memorandum of understanding
(MOU) within the agricultural sector in Mpumalanga this week.
Labour Minister Membathisi Mdladlana will be in attendance when an agreement
regulating access to farms and strengthening labour relations in the Mpumalanga
Province is entered into by these social partners.
Labour relations in the commercial farming sector have always been perceived
by many as driven by exploitation, racism and cruelty. It has always been
amongst the lowest paying sector. The signing of this agreement is expected to
transform the sector and the Department of Labour is determined to make sure
that every sector operates lawfully and within the framework of labour
relations.
