The UIF is set to introduce a new channel to facilitate the payment of
employersâ monthly contributions and submissions of required documents to the
Fund, the Department of Labour has announced.
The new collection channel in the form of online electronic filing system
(U-Filing) will be introduced from the beginning of the new financial year on 1
April 2006 and will be available to the more than 900 000 domestic and
commercial employers registered with the UIF.
The new system promises to remove the risks and hassles of manual
declarations, which entails employers providing information on the details of
all their employees regardless of their earnings to the Unemployment Insurance
Commissioner. Currently the more than seven million workers in both the
domestic and commercial field have been registered with the Fund.
Not only can employers submit declarations of their employees via the
internet, but can also make secure payments online. Employers can be rest
assured that this payment mechanism provides many advantages to them and will
prevent incorrect payment referencing. Upon payment the employer will be able
to receive confirmation of receipt of his/her contribution.
Statements, which were currently not being issued to clients, will be issued
at regular intervals in order to update the employers of their payment
history.
