L Xingwana to hand over title deeds to Elim community, 15 Jul

Jubilation as land lost many years ago is restored at
last

The Minister for Agriculture and Land Affairs, Ms Lulu Xingwana, cordially
invites the members of the media to a land title deed handover ceremony.

The Elim land claimants who were forcibly removed from their land due to a
racially discriminatory law, the Native Service Contract Act of 1932 lodged
their claim for the land in question before the official cut off date of
December 1998.

More than 40 years after their forced removals in the mid 1960s, the
community of Elim will have their dignity and socio-economic rights restored
following the purchase of a commercial farm as a settlement under the
Restitution of Land Rights Act of 1994(as amended).

The ceremony will be as follows:
