30 July 2007
The KwaZulu-Natal Office of the Premier will celebrate Pan African Women's
Day tomorrow (31 July 2007) commencing at 10h00 at the Playhouse Company Drama
Theatre in Durban.
Pan African Women's Day is celebrated throughout the African continent and
is an expression of the trials and tribulations that women in Africa have
previously endured. Pan African Women's Day is aimed at highlighting the
history of the struggle against women oppression and discrimination, inequality
and a lack of independence.
August is Women's Month and the Women's Month programme for KwaZulu-Natal
will also be announced at this event. The Women's Month programme is dedicated
to recognising the efforts of several women who have persevered and attained
success, despite the various negative elements that constantly degrade
society.
Media are invited to attend. Please note picture opportunities. Journalists
attending must confirm their attendance by no later than 16h00 today (Monday,
30 July 2007) as per the contact details listed below.
