Media statement on handing over of the remains of three ANC
Umkhonto weSizwe members (MKs) to their families

The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development through the Truth
and Reconciliation recommendations will be handing over three remains of the
ANC MKs to their respective families in a short ceremony that will take place
at Freedom Park, Tshwane, on Wednesday, 18 October 2006, at 12h00. This is part
of fulfilling the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC)
recommendations.

The three MK operatives are Skhwiri Schoeman Ramakgopa, (MK Marx aka Calvin
Kakhasa) from Moroka in Soweto, Bushy Voltaire Swartbooi (MK Kruschev aka
Solomon Jeremiah Mlozi) from Diepkloof, Soweto and Karabo Madiba, (MK Gabriel
Seatlholo aka �Gab�) from Mabopane.

Skhwiri Schoeman Ramakgopa and Bushy Voltaire Swartbooi were killed together
with a Botswana national on 4 May 1983 in a pre-planned ambush by members of
the Western Transvaal Security Branch, while Karabo Madiba was killed on 26
October 1984. The three will be given a proper burial at their respective
homes.
