You are invited by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) to a signing
ceremony with farming organisations in South Africa on 12 January 2006, at the
Sheraton Hotel in Pretoria.
The Electoral Commission has convened the meeting with all the farming
organisations (farm ownersâ and farmers workersâ organisations) in preparation
for the local government elections taking place on 1 March 2006. This is a
follow-up on the historic agreement that was signed on 12 March 2004 between
the organisations and the Electoral Commission for the 2004 Elections.
Tomorrowâs meeting is aimed at:
* Consolidating the strategic partnership between the Electoral Commission
and the farm ownersâ and farm workersâ organisations.
* Ensuring that information on elections reaches the farming community.
* Ensuring that the farming structures have an avenue to articulate their
suggestions and concerns regarding electoral matters to the Electoral
Commission.
* Ensuring regular briefing of the farming structures.
* Requesting the support of the farming structures for the forthcoming local
government elections.
