holds hearings into commercial satellite and cable subscription
broadcasting

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa will hold hearings
into commercial satellite and cable subscription broadcasting. The hearings
follow an invitation to apply that Icasa issued in January 2006 calling on
interested parties to apply for commercial subscription broadcasting licences.
In 2005, the Authority published the Position Paper on subscription
broadcasting services which set the framework for the licensing of all
subscription broadcasting services.

The Authority received 18 applications and will be holding hearings as
follows:
Date: 28 May to 12 June 2007
Time: 09h30 to 18h00
Venue: Block C, Icasa 164 Katherine Street, Pinmill Farm, Sandton, Gauteng.
