I Jacobs to launch annual Public Transport Month campaign, 1 Oct

Gauteng Public Transport Month: Building a better public
transport for 2010 and beyond

The Gauteng MEC of Public Transport, Roads and Works, Ignatius Jacobs, will
on Monday, 1 October 2007 launch the annual Public Transport Month campaign and
reveal its activities.

The campaign, which is held annually in October, will focus mainly on
building support for public transport in preparation for 2010 and beyond. The
launch will be in the form of a discussion between the MEC and various industry
players in public transport.

Jacobs will announce the programme for the month, which includes a High
Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) Lane between South Gate Shopping Mall and the Crown
Interchange in the south of Johannesburg. He will also unveil a booklet on the
benefits of public transport.

Invited guests will get an opportunity to view a video depicting public
transport in Gauteng.

All members of the media are invited.
